Biography
Susan Anders Brizick has a passion for teaching others to sing at their best potential and is currently accepting students at her home voice studio in West Chester, PA. She is an active member of NATS, the Voice Foundation and the Classical Singer Community. She has also completed the first level of Contemporary Commercial Music Certification. She presented her Master's Thesis, "The Effects of a Healthy Vocal Regimen on the Singing and Speaking Voice" at both the NATS and Voice Foundation Conventions. Susan completed her M.M. in Voice Performance and Pedagogy at Westminster Choir College. She has a Music Education Certificate from West Chester University and a dual B.A. in Voice Performance and Psychology from the University of Richmond.
Susan's diverse experience as an Independent Voice Teacher,Voice Teacher for Villa Maria Academy, Children and Youth Choir Director at Calvary Lutheran Church, church musician and classroom music teacher enable her to work with a variety of singers at a various ages and ability levels. Her students are men and women ages 12 and older who study all styles including musical theater, rock, jazz, classical, and opera. Student accomplishments include 5th Round Competitor in Delware County Idol Jr., Platinum Award and Highest Score in Access Broadway,and multiple lead roles in musical theatre productions, and top chair placements in All Catholic and District Chorus. Susan Anders Brizick is also a soprano soloist and choral singer in the Greater Philadelphia area with a "lovely, lyric soprano voice" that suits a variety of repertoire from oratorio to opera to Spanish art song. She performs with the Wayne Oratorio Society and "Opera on the Square" in Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia. A solo benefit recital, "An Evening in Italy and Spain" and soprano soloist for both Handel's Messiah and Britten's Ceremony of Carols represent some of her solo work while the PBS television broadcast of "Breaking All the Rules" with Denyce Graves, the Verdi Requiem with Riccardo Muti and the New York Philharmonic and the Memorial Verdi Requiem with Zdenek Macal and the New Jersey Symphony are some of Susan's other concert performances. Susan also sings at weddings and special events.
Susan Anders Brizick is a wife and mother of two boys. She is an avid exerciser who believes that physical activity balances the body and mind. Susan also enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, and wine tasting.
